Dr Sukbinder Kaur Bilkhu is a registered Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the field of mental health (in various roles) for over 15 years.
She has worked in inpatient, day, residential and community mental health settings with children and adults who have experienced complex, severe and enduring mental health difficulties and emotional distress. These have ranged from difficulties such as stress, depression, anxiety, trauma and relational difficulties to psychosis, eating disorders, self harming and suicidal behaviour and personality disorder.
Dr Bilkhu has a professional interest in working with people with complex, enduring, interpersonal difficulties, often labeled as ‘personality disorder’ and conducted her own research in this area as part of her doctoral thesis.
In clinical practice Dr Bilkhu uses a wide range of therapeutic approaches in her work, but is particularly influenced by attachment theory in helping her to understand complex mental health problems and interpersonal difficulties.
