Dr Christian Mbonu Okoli

Christian graduated from medical school in 1997 with M.B B.S.

After graduating, he spent some time working in a non-governmental organisation targeted at supporting the vulnerable:  these include empowering the youth and promoting safe sex practices in commercial sex workers. This work inspired Christian to forge a career in mental health.

Christian commenced his post-graduate training in the North- East Deanery, where he got his membership of the Royal College of Psychiatry and went on to secure his specialist registration in General Adult Psychiatry and further competence from the Faculty of Rehabilitation and Social Psychiatry. Christian is in the process of completing his Masters Degree in Psychological interventions for complex mental health problems. He also has Post-Graduate qualifications in Forensic Medicine.

Christian has worked in various Teams and Mental Health Trusts nationally and have experience in developing services that deliver high quality care to people with mental health problems. 

Christian has Special interests in the holistic practice of Psychiatry and exploring the bio/psycho/social factors that contribute to mental health difficulties. He has worked with people who have Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and Gender Dysphoric Disorders.

In his spare time, Christian supports and enriches the local community by using music to share cultural heritage from different ethnic backgrounds. He has supported local charities and organisations through his network.
