Dr Carmaciu has been a fully qualified doctor since 1986. He started his psychiatric career in 1992 in the Mersey region, attending psychiatric courses at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He continued his training in Essex, attending psychiatric courses at University College London and later on, as a Specialist Registrar, he trained at Fulbourn and Addenbrooke's Hospitals in Cambridge. He worked in the NHS at consultant level in General Adult Psychiatry from December 2001 to February 2012 and between 2005 and 2010 he was the Area Medical Director for Mid-Essex, within the North Essex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. His main interests include (bipolar) affective disorders, psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia) and borderline personality disorder, as well as patients with Eastern European background.
