Julet has worked as a Consultant in the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) since 1999.
Previously, she did her specialist training in Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Julet has been working in the private sector since 2012.
She sees children from under-5s to 18 who present with emotional and behavioural problems. Often with younger children it’s important to work with parents to reassure them and increase their confidence in managing their children’s stresses.
Julet also assesses and treats children and adolescents with a wider range of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders and psychosis. She has lots of experience in working with families where the child or young person has extra difficulties to manage such as autism, ADHD or other neuro-developmental disorders.
Dr Butler starts treatment with medication when it’s appropriate and also refers children, young people and families to the relevant therapist. She aims to work with therapy colleagues so that families feel there is a team working with them who communicate and think about how best it is to support them during difficult and worrying times, when a child or young person is struggling with their mental health.
