Murali Sekar took a biopsychosocial approach in helping patients to manage their eating disorders. This is reflecting the onset and maintenance of eating disorders which usually involve all these aspects. His training in Psychodynamic psychotherapy and Interpersonal therapy help Murali to provide a comprehensive assessment and treatment of all the patients with eating disorders. Murali strongly believes in a collaborative approach and invites input from family if the patient is agreeing to this.
In terms of experience, since he commenced his Consultant career in 2010, Murali always worked in eating disorders. He has participated in research programmes in this area and published articles in peer reviewed journals. He has co-authored a book in the field of eating disorders and the book is about medical aspects and treatment of these conditions.
Murali currently works in the NHS as a Consultant Psychiatrist in a Community based eating disorders service. This gives him wide range of experience in helping patients to recover in the community and also in an inpatient setting.
