Dr Oliver White

Oliver is a Consultant Psychiatrist dual qualified and accredited in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry.

 

He qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 2001 and has worked as a Junior Doctor in both the UK and Australia.  Oliver completed his core psychiatric training in Nottingham and his higher specialist training in Oxford.

 

Oliver has worked for the NHS since 2003 in various community and inpatient clinical settings including community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, inpatient adolescent units, adult community mental health teams, adult inpatient units, substance misuse services (community and inpatient), learning disability services, and low, medium and high secure forensic inpatient units.

 

Oliver’s current NHS work is across two NHS Trusts; he provides Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in both community and inpatient settings.  He has a particular clinical interest in emerging personality difficulties and transition from child and adolescent to adult mental health services.

 

Oliver undertakes research with a current focus on treatment and outcomes in secure adolescent inpatient care.  He has recently published research regarding child maltreatment recurrence.

 

Oliver regularly provides teaching to medical students, particularly via the Oxford University Medical School Special Study Module Programme.  He is also an accredited postgraduate medical educator.

 

He undertakes medico-legal work with a focus on criminal cases but including family and civil cases and Oliver uses his specialist clinical expertise and experience to provide detailed and personalised assessments of children and young people who present with a range of mental health difficulties.

 

Oliver promotes the inclusion and involvement of the various systems around the child and young person, including their families, GP, and school / college.
