Dr Chad obtained MRCPsych in 1978 while doing his junior training in Oxford, before working as a clinical lecturer at Oxford University within the psychiatric research unit. His senior training was undertaken at the Royal Free Hospital London. He became a consultant psychiatrist in mid Essex at the age of 32, and worked as a full-time NHS consultant for 27 years. During this period he obtained, in 2002, a Diploma in Psychopharmacology from the British Association of Psychopharmacologists.
He retired in March 2011 to persue his specific interests in bipolar disorder and recurrent depression, along with adult ADHD. Dr Chad is also employed as a second opinion approved doctor working for the Care Quality Commission.
