Sarah has been an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist for nine years. Her expertise lie in the assessment and treatment of people with complex and severe non-psychotic mental disorders, including addiction treatment, eating disorders and acute mental health.
Sarah qualified as a doctor from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1992 and trained in psychiatry on the Guy’s Hospital and Maudsley training rotations in London. She has a Master’s degree in mental health and a diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy. She is also trained in a range of other therapies including cognitive analytical therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and family therapy.
She worked in busy inner London NHS community mental health teams for several years before becoming a consultant. Prior to working at the Priory Hospital Hayes Grove, her previous positions include working as the NHS eating disorders consultant psychiatrist for Kent and as medical director within the independent sector.
Following a thorough assessment she uses a combination of medication and psychotherapy to help her patients achieve good mental health again. Most of her patients suffer from several mental disorders concurrently and require a combination of treatments to recover.
