Sarah has worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for 15 years both in the NHS and privately. Prior to this she has experience in Adult Psychiatry, Paediatrics and General Practice. Sarah works effectively and holistically with a wide range of mental health difficulties in children and young people.
Sarah is able undertake mental health assessments of children over seven, at the Priory, for a full range of childhood emotional and behavioural problems. She has a special interest in neurodevelopmental disorders including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disability (ID), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Tics and Tourette’s Syndrome and other complex developmental difficulties in childhood. Nice compliant multidisciplinary assessments for Autistic Spectrum Disorder can be undertaken (Sarah is ADI 3DI and ADOS trained). Sarah and colleagues also work with young people and their families with a variety of anxiety and mood disorders. She is holistic in her approach and management including pharmacotherapy as required. Sarah works in a small team at the Priory with Clinical Psychology colleagues, enabling multidisciplinary working and prompt access to a range of evidence based Psychological Therapies, which enables the best fit to the young persons problems. School liaison can be arranged too where necessary. Sarah also has good links to other colleagues and services across Sussex if needed. Parents and carers are always very much part of the assessment and therapeutic work at the Priory.
As well as her Psychiatry training, Sarah has a BSc in Psychology, a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) (paediatric developmental) and a Diploma in Family Therapy. Sarah is experienced in safeguarding issues and complex case management.
Her feedback from children and families has been consistently excellent and is praised for being approachable and making young people feel at ease as well as making a demonstrable and positive impact on their mental health.
