Dr Sharma trained in London at the Royal Free Hospital and the Institute of Psychiatry before taking her consultant post. She holds several positions within the Royal College of Psychiatrists representing the region in Eating Disorders and Public Education. Dr Sharma is a member of the executive committee for the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the North West.
Dr Sharma’s research interests span general psychiatry as well as eating disorders, and she has published in both. She has a particular interest in the management of severe Anorexia Nervosa being a member of the group involved in producing the MARSIPAN guidelines.
Dr Sharma teaches medical trainees at the University of Manchester, both at undergraduate and MSc levels.
Dr Sharma’s areas of expertise include the initial assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
