Dr Taseer Kazmi

Dr Kazmi qualified in medicine from the University of Leicester in 2001. He undertook his basic psychiatric training in Greater Manchester before passing the membership examinations of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). From 2006-2009 Dr Kazmi completed his Higher Specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry in the North West Deanery where he trained in various placements in and around Greater Manchester. During this time he also completed a MSc in Psychiatry at the University of Manchester.  Dr Kazmi was awarded a CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry in 2009.

Dr Kazmi has been a substantive NHS Consultant in Manchester since 2009. He is currently employed by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in the NHS Dr Kazmi has worked with Community Mental Health Teams, Home Treatment Teams and on acute inpatient wards. At present he is the Consultant for a short stay acute assessment unit in Manchester.

Dr Kazmi is a Lead Consultant in Manchester with responsibilities for the management of acute services.  He has led on several pieces of work on service improvement and transformation of acute mental health care in the NHS particularly for patients that present in emergencies.

Dr Kazmi has a significant interest in the training and teaching of junior doctors. He is an approved clinical and education supervisor for junior doctors at all levels of training. Dr Kazmi is also a Training Programme Director for Health Education England North West with responsibility for managing the training of junior doctors in Psychiatry across the North West.  Dr Kazmi sits on the Royal College of Psychiatrists clinical examination committee and is also an examiner for College.
