As an Occupational Therapist (OT), Elizabeth’s role is to identify barriers that may prevent young people from engaging in personally meaningful activities. These activities can include hobbies, attending school, self-care tasks and socialising with friends. She uses a practical approach to reduce the barriers by adapting the environment, maintaining or teaching new skills, and by providing specialist equipment.
Elizabeth implements the principles of the recovery model to work with young people to identify personal goals, and in collaboration with the individual creates an intervention plan as to how the goals can be met.
