Julia is a MBACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist specialising in Couple and Relationship therapy and Psychosexual therapy. She has almost 30 years’ experience counselling couples and individuals.
At the start of my career Julia worked for RELATE - as a counsellor, psychosexual therapist, supervisor and national media officer. Since this time she has worked as a counsellor in a private practice on Hayling Island, Hants, and as a therapist for The Haven (a centre for women with breast cancer) previously in London and now in Titchfield, Hants.
Julia is now a Co-Director of Seaforth Counselling which delivers bespoke therapy to members of the Royal Navy and Marines, (having previously worked in-house for The Royal Navy for ten years) based near Portsmouth. She is a trained practitioner in EMDR (an NHS approved treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), a Licensed Practitioner for ‘Understanding Your Eating’ and a trained online therapist.
Julia is also a freelance writer and author, having written for most national newspapers and magazines. She has been ‘agony aunt’ for several national magazines, including ‘The Express’ and ‘Essentials’ and is the author of eight books on relationships and sexuality.
Julia believes that counselling should be a unique experience for each person, and her aim as a therapist is to offer a tailored and personal approach for everyone. Although the idea of counselling can sometimes be challenging, her experience is that most people find it useful and supportive during difficult times or when struggling with troubling emotions.
