Lara has been working in the therapy profession since 2000. She trained in counselling and decided to further her understanding by training in psychotherapy. Lara worked in the criminal justice system, a youth counselling service, in a social work environment, private practice and in a private psychiatric hospital. She has been working with couples, children, groups and adults both in a creative and more formal way. She is an existential psychotherapist, which means that she works from the principal that most of us will become more aware of our existence at different times in our lives; this can cause anxiety and/or fear, but can also give rise to exploration and change. Lara works with patients for that change.
She is also a dog lover and very interested in the use of dogs and animals in the therapeutic environment. Lara is hoping to train a P.A.T. (pets as therapy) dog in the future.
