Sarah is an experienced and accredited counsellor specialising in addiction and addictive behaviours. She worked in some of the leading residential addiction treatment centres including The Priory Hospital Southampton and this has influenced and shaped her working practice.
Originally Sarah trained as a Psychodynamic therapist in 2002 encompassing the premise that our early life experiences can affect our current ways of coping. Over time further ways of working have been incorporated to provide alternative therapies as needed. These modalities range from Brief Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Person Centred to recovery based programs of Motivational Interviewing, 12 step and Life Coaching.
Sarah sees CBT as a practical and empowering therapy focusing on the present, while acknowledging that the past is part of who a person is, looking at and recognising unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns that can or have taken over.
Sarah sees clients with a broad range of difficulties and challenges. The sessions are offered in a confidential, empathic and non-judgemental supportive environment where issues can be explored collaboratively so as to work towards therapeutic change, resolution and solution with if needed alternative coping strategies.
