Trevor Torrington – Chief Executive Officer, Priory Group
Trevor became CEO of The Priory Group in 2016 after 7 years as CEO of its healthcare division. Priory runs the largest network of mental healthcare hospitals and clinics in the UK, caring for 30,000 people each year across a range of services including mental health, addictions, adult residential care, and children’s specialist education at 450 sites. Under Trevor’s leadership, the Group has strengthened its role as an inpatient provider for NHS Trusts. It successfully integrated Priory Healthcare with Partnerships in Care and opened its first overseas mental health facility (in Dubai) and its tenth Wellbeing Centre (Harley Street). In 2019 opened its first specialist school outside the UK, in Abu Dhabi.
Ryan Jervis - Chief Financial Officer
Ryan joined The Priory Group as Chief Financial Officer in November 2019 and has Group-wide responsibility for the finances of The Priory Group.
With over twenty years of finance experience across both corporate and advisory roles, Ryan’s healthcare experience includes having served as Chief Development Officer for Cambian PLC and Cygnet Healthcare, in addition to a senior Finance role with Al Noor Hospitals.
A qualified accountant, Ryan brings a combination of finance and industry experience, including having led and completed numerous corporate transactions across the Healthcare, Engineering and Industrials sectors with both publicly listed and private organisations. This experience includes a broad range of capital restructurings and corporate refinancings.
In addition to day-to-day finance activities the finance department seeks to provide strategic and operational insight to every aspect of the business to help and support the operations to enhance the health, stability and quality of the organisation and our patient care.
Dave Hall - General Counsel and Company Secretary
Dave is a UK-qualified solicitor and joined the Priory Group in 2007 as its first General Counsel. Dave leads the Legal & Compliance teams at Priory who advise on all legal, regulatory, H&S, risk management, insurance, data protection, corporate, commercial and property matters.
Dave has considerable transaction experience having worked as an M&A lawyer in the London office of Linklaters for 9 years prior to joining Priory and he has been central to the success of the Group’s acquisition programme having acted on the purchase of Affinity, Harbour Care, Peninsula, High Quality Lifestyles, New Directions, CastleCare, Lifeworks, Progress Care and Aspire.
CIO & Director of Corporate Services
Tina Walton joined Priory in May 2008 with a mandate to migrate all IT services to an integrated in-house platform and to upgrade the Group’s IT systems to be ‘best in class”.
Tina’s main responsibilities are to develop the strategy, provide leadership and governance for the departments delivering Corporate Services covering Information Technology, People Services, Estates and Facilities Management. In addition she is also responsible for oversight of major corporate programmes, projects and business transformation that includes acquisition integration, IT system procurement, Estates portfolio opportunities and improvements, together with identifying and delivering major operational and cultural changes across the business.
During her career she has amassed over 25 years’ experience of managing large scale systems and infrastructure implementations and 8 years of delivering M&A integration programmes within the care sector. Before joining Priory Tina was previously Operations Manager for a software house supplying services to the Care Sector.
Jane Stone - Interim Chief Operating Officer, Healthcare
Jane has worked for Priory for over 8 years, becoming Group Director of Nursing in 2016 and joining the Operating Board in April 2019. Jane is responsible for the team of professional heads across the group, developing and improving practice and working with other Board members to achieve the highest level of service and professional delivery.
Jane has led Nursing Revalidation since it began in 2016, alongside our original Nursing development programme, before the Apprenticeship programme commenced. Her team also lead on Nursing preceptorship, implementing a new nursing strategy that takes into account future nurse competencies; similarly this is also happening with Allied Health Professionals, and also developing senior programmes for medical staff.
Jane is the Group Equality and Diversity lead, and our new Strategy ‘Thrive at Priory’ was launched in September 2019.
Rebekah Cresswell - Chief Operating Officer, Priory Adult Care
Rebekah joined Priory Group in November 2012 working as Director of Quality in Priory Healthcare for four years. During this time, she set up systems and processes, governance structures, strategically driven continuous quality improvement, led on safeguarding, H&S, regulation, patient safety, risk, audit & policies to ensure the delivery of high quality services to patients. She moved to the Group Wide role of Director of Performance and Regulation in January 2017 to drive improvement and lead on regulation interfacing with the 7 regulators across Healthcare, Education and Adult Social Care. In March 2018, she moved to Priory Adult Care full time as Chief Operating Officer to be responsible for service delivery, ensuring the people we support and care for reach their potential and enjoy their lives.
Rebekah joined Priory from NHS North West where she was Assistant Director of Clinical Quality & Patient Safety, where she led on Child Safeguarding CQUIN and CQC, with oversight of quality & safety for Greater Manchester. This included monitoring QPIs, responding to serious incidents, supporting Trusts experiencing quality issues, assessing and helping prepare organisations for Foundation Trust Status.
Chris Strong – Chief Operating Officer, Priory Education and Children’s Services
Chris joined the Priory Group in March 2020 to lead its Education and Children’s Services Division. Chris has a wealth of experience within Special Education fulfilling a variety of high profile roles across the sector. He is a qualified teacher with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management. Chris is passionate about working with children, maintaining voluntary positions in a national charity and also local authority provision.
Colin Quick – Interim Group Deputy Director of Nursing
Colin has worked in nursing since 1992 initially as a Nursing Assistant, then completing his registered nurse training in 1998. Since then he has worked across a number of NHS and Independent Sector providers, as well as serving as a Nursing Officer in the Royal Air Force. In his career he has held both operational and professional leadership roles covering community and inpatient services within mental health, learning disability and physical care services.
Colin joined the Priory Group in 2019 as the Group Deputy Director of Nursing and his role supports the development of the Nursing profession, ensuring safe practice on infection control, the physical health needs of our service users and our adherence to the requirements of mental health legislation.
Louise Griffiths – Interim Group Director of Business Development
Louise joined the Priory Group in 2018 as the Adult Care Service Development Director, with the remit of working with her team, alongside Operations to grow and develop new services for people with complex and challenging behavior both in residential and supported living settings.
Louise has over 18 years of experience of developing services and leading service development teams in both healthcare and social care settings having worked at Aspirations Care, Inmind, Care Aspirations, Cambian, Ramsay Healthcare and Cheadle Royal Hospital (prior to Priory owning it).
In April 2021 Louise was appointed to the role of Group Director of Business Development and is responsible for looking after Business Development and Strategic Growth. This department works to manage Priory’s reputation, protect its core bed base, drive strategic development of services and maximise service occupancy through referrer engagement, service promotion and referral management
Jim Lee - Group Director of Finance and Tax
Jim joined the Priory Group in February 2011 as Group Tax Director and has responsibility for the management of the Group’s tax affairs, its relationship with HMRC, tax compliance and reporting and providing tax advice on acquisitions, restructurings and other transactions. Jim also has oversight of, and provides support to, the Treasury, Financial Accounting, Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger departments within Priory.
Before joining Priory, Jim was in private practice with Deloitte for over ten years. During this time he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, specialising in corporate tax and transaction support, with a particular focus on the healthcare sector.
David Watts - Director of Safety
David is a registered mental health nurse with experience of managing community mental health teams. He is now more involved in patient safety.
David has spent time working in a variety of patient safety-related roles and latterly worked at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, overseeing incidents and serious incidents reported across the trust.
David joined the Priory Group in December 2012. His brief is to ensure that serious incidents, complaints and claims are effectively reported, investigated and to ensure that any lessons learnt are shared and improvements made.
Adrian Cree – Group Medical Director
Adrian joined Priory Healthcare in his first consultant role in 2007 and became a Medical Director in 2011. Following a period working for Partnerships in Care, he returned to the Group when the two organisations merged in 2016 and became a Regional Associate Medical Director in 2017, overseeing the South Region. He was appointed Group Medical Director in 2020.
Adrian is Responsible Officer and Caldicott Guardian for Priory, and also oversees our ongoing involvement in high quality research through his leadership of the Priory Research Group. His responsibilities in the Healthcare Division include oversight of prescribing practices, a focus on enhancing the recruitment of medical staff and the leadership of projects related to record keeping and patient safety.
Clair Dunn - Group IT Director
Clair joined the Priory Group in May 2008 as part of the initial team that migrated the IT Services into the Priory Group.
Clair is a Batchelor of Education (BEd Hons) and taught for many years before embarking on a career change into IT. She has over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry, having worked her way up from an initial IT field engineer position at British Aerospace. Previous to joining in 2008, Clair worked for a large software house providing systems to the Healthcare sector and worked with companies such as Bupa, Nestor, Four Seasons and Care UK.
Matthew Atherton - Group Director of Marketing and Communications
Matthew joined the Priory Group in April 2012 as a Marketing Manager, initially focusing on the Healthcare and Education Divisions before taking on a wider remit overseeing marketing activity across the Group in 2013. Between 2015 and 2018 Matthew’s role expanded to include responsibility for Priory’s external communications activity and the management of the Customer Service Centre and Corporate Clients Teams.
Matthew has over 19 years’ experience of leading marketing and communications strategy across a diverse range of organisations including specialist healthcare, regeneration and education service providers. Before joining Priory, Matthew held a number of marketing and communications positions in the NHS, latterly focusing on a Department of Health-funded programme of behaviour change campaigns, and supporting newly-formed NHS Provider Trusts to embed commercially-focused strategic marketing approaches across the new landscape of healthcare service delivery.
Mark Wilson - Group Commercial Director
Mark joined the Priory Group in July 2011 and has responsibility for a range of commercial activities within Priory, including leading on contract and price negotiations with NHS, local authority and other commissioners.
Mark is a chartered accountant, having qualified with KPMG in 1991. He has over twenty years’ experience working in the Health and Social Care Sector, holding a number of senior finance and commercial roles in that time.
Andrew Nethercot – Deputy General Counsel & Director of Legal
Andrew joined the Priory Group as Deputy General Counsel and Director of Legal in January 2020 and has responsibility for managing the legal and data protection teams. Andrew is also the Group Data Protection Officer.
Andrew is a qualified UK lawyer who worked for a number of years at Simmons & Simmons as a financing lawyer. Having left private practice, Andrew set up and ran his own business before moving in house where he has held roles in public and private multi national businesses across a number of sectors. His expertise lies in corporate, commercial, finance, data protection, intellectual property and anti-bribery and corruption.
Katie Groom – Group Director of NHS Partnerships and Bids
Katie joined Priory Group in 2013 from Serco Health, where she was a lead architect for some of the Health Division’s largest bid opportunities. As Group Director of NHS Partnerships and Bids, Katie is responsible for leading Priory’s engagement across the emerging network of Provider Collaboratives alongside key NHS and independent sector partners.
Katie also leads the development of Priory’s large tenders and proposals to deliver services across our four divisions, and is experienced in leading large bid teams and processes.
