Flourish is our revolutionary therapy-led residential addiction service, designed to provide structured, compassionate support in calm, homely environments. It is delivered across two carefully chosen settings:

  • Eden House in Mill Hill, North London
  • Life Works House In Woking, Surrey

Flourish is suitable for people who don’t need a medical detox or ongoing physical care. It offers a structured, therapeutic programme within a supportive, recovery-focused setting. As a community-based alternative to hospital treatment, Flourish provides the space and support needed for meaningful, lasting recovery. It also offers a more accessible price point than traditional inpatient addiction treatment, with 14-day stays starting from £4,200 at Eden House and £6,930 at Life Works House.

Supporting detox requirements

As part of our free addiction assessment, you'll be advised on the most appropriate type of support for your needs. For people who do require a detox, this can be provided at Priory Hospital Woking before beginning the Flourish programme at Life Works House or Eden House. Transport from Priory Hospital Woking can be arranged to support a smooth transition into the programme.

Steve Clarke, Managing Director of Priory Flourish, explains more

Typically available as a 14, 28 or 42-day stay – although this can be longer, if you need it – Flourish gives you time and space to focus on yourself in a nurturing, supportive environment.

Whether you’re recovering from a substance or behavioural addiction, you’ll take part in a structured programme of therapy and activities designed to support long-term change.

Our experienced therapists will guide you through daily group sessions, evening recovery-focused activities and psychoeducational workshops – all centred on helping you develop practical coping strategies, build resilience and reduce responses to everyday triggers. There’s also time for rest, reflection and connection with other people taking part in Flourish, helping you feel part of a supportive recovery community throughout your stay.

Flourish is designed for people who need support with substance use or behavioural addictions, including gambling, sex, pornography, gaming, social media or exercise. It’s ideal for people who would benefit from structured support in a non-hospital environment.

Exposure therapy

As part of your recovery journey, you’ll take part in our cutting-edge exposure therapy – designed to help you safely confront the situations that may trigger cravings, stress or relapse outside of treatment.

Image of a woman wearing a VR headset, speaking with a therapist during exposure therapy

At Priory, our experts use ground-breaking immersive virtual reality (VR) technology to recreate real-life scenarios in a safe and controlled setting. From social environments to high-pressure situations, this approach allows you to build resilience, develop coping strategies and reduce your sensitivity to potential triggers – all before you encounter them in daily life.

By integrating true-to-life exposure into your programme, we help you gain confidence, lower your risk of relapse and feel better prepared for long-term recovery.

Programme structure and timeline

Initial assessment

Before starting the programme, you’ll have a free addiction assessment with one of our experts. This confidential conversation is a chance to talk through your history of substance use or behavioural concerns, and helps us ensure that Flourish is right for you.

Immediate access to therapy

If Flourish is a good fit for you, you’ll be able to start the full therapy programme straight away – often on the same day. As the programme is designed for people who don’t need a medical detox or have complex physical health needs, you won’t need to go through a stabilisation period, and you’ll be able to make the most of every day in treatment from the moment you arrive.

Daily structure and a therapeutic environment

From day 1, you’ll take part in a structured, in-depth therapy programme:

  • Each day includes at least 4 therapeutic group sessions, starting with a 90-minute group process – a safe, supportive space to build resilience and develop healthy coping strategies
  • Other sessions cover topics such as addiction, trauma, emotional regulation and practical recovery skills
  • You’ll also have 1:1 sessions twice a week with your therapist, offering personalised support throughout your stay

Tailored support that goes beyond the 12 steps

Flourish offers an alternative to the traditional 12-step approach used in services like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Instead of following a fixed framework, we use a flexible, evidence-based model grounded in therapies recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) – such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychoeducation and trauma-informed care. This gives you the freedom to engage with therapy in a way that suits your needs, while still having the option to attend AA or other 12-step groups if you find them helpful.

Additional therapy and support

Beyond the core group work, your programme includes:

  • Teaching and educational workshops
  • Self-reflection exercises
  • CBT techniques and skills
  • Family support sessions
  • Therapeutic outings and real-world experiences
  • Wellbeing activities, such as fitness classes and relaxation

Where appropriate, you may also be able to bring your pet with you during treatment. Having a familiar companion by your side can support emotional wellbeing, provide comfort and reassurance, and help maintain a sense of routine and home at what can feel like a challenging time.

All pets are subject to a risk assessment. They can be welcomed at the point of admission provided this doesn’t impact other clients, such as where there are allergies or a fear of animals.

If you’d like a clearer idea of what your time with us could look like, you can download the example timetable, showing how the days are structured and the types of sessions you’ll take part in.

What’s included in the Flourish programme?

A flexible, forward-looking approach

Flourish tailors your support to your needs and goals. Whatever your journey looks like, we’ll work with you to make your recovery meaningful and sustainable – both during your stay and beyond it.

Therapy that supports lasting change

You’ll benefit from an evidence-based therapeutic programme that includes psychological support, experiential therapy and behavioural techniques, all tailored to your individual goals and needs.

Innovative exposure work

As part of your therapy, you’ll take part in exposure-based activities that help you re-engage with everyday situations and reduce your risk of relapse. Using tools like AI and VR, you’ll have the chance to build confidence and practise real-world scenarios in a safe, supported setting.

Life-enhancing routines

After therapy, there’s time to unwind or try something new. You’ll have access to a wellness room with the latest technologies – including VR experiences designed to promote calm and relaxation – as well as a fitness space for activities like yoga or pilates.

Living and eating as a community

A key part of the programme is shared living and time spent eating together, helping to build routine, connection and confidence in everyday life. At Eden House, you’ll be given a food budget and supported to shop, plan and cook meals with other people in the house. At Life Works House, all meals are prepared by an on-site chef but everyone eats together at set times, supporting a strong sense of community. You’ll also have opportunities to take part in therapeutic cooking activities, helping you to build and practise essential life skills in a supported way.

Support for families

We know that addiction can impact more than just the person in treatment – it can affect the whole family. That’s why we offer dedicated family support to anyone whose loved one is staying with us, regardless of programme length.

Family support and aftercare

Included as standard

While you’re with us, your loved ones will be invited to take part in weekly online sessions. These sessions are designed to help them better understand addiction, manage their own emotions and feel more confident in how they support your recovery.

For longer stays

If you’re staying with us for 28 days or more, we also offer the option of a more in-depth family therapy programme (available at an additional cost). This 2-day experience is led by our therapy team and includes:

  • Psychoeducational sessions – understanding the psychology of addiction, the impact it can have on relationships, and how to manage feelings like shame or guilt
  • Therapeutic group sessions – creating space to explore boundaries, rebuild trust and learn healthier ways of communicating
  • Peer-led sessions – providing an opportunity for you to share your intentions for recovery with your loved ones and work together on strategies for ongoing support

We’ll need your consent for any direct interaction between our therapy team and your family, and we’ll always work with you to ensure the process feels comfortable and supportive.

Ongoing support after you leave

Your recovery doesn’t end when your stay does. Flourish includes 12 months of free aftercare, helping you stay connected, confident and on track as you return to everyday life.

As part of your transition, you’ll be supported to:

  • Regain everyday life skills
  • Rebuild structure and routine
  • Commit to a recovery plan, based on what’s right for you

A big part of moving forward is feeling more in control when faced with everyday triggers. Through the work you’ve done at during the Flourish programme, you’ll be better equipped to handle these moments with confidence and resilience.

In addition:

  • You’ll receive a follow-up call within 48 hours of discharge from a member of our therapy team – to check in, offer reassurance and ensure you’re supported in those important first few days
  • You’ll also be encouraged to subscribe to Recovery 360, our digital recovery support programme
  • When ready, you may wish to step down into Anchor 1:1, our flexible outpatient therapy service for ongoing 1:1 support

Together, these options offer a robust support network to guide your next steps and help you build a life in recovery that feels sustainable and meaningful.

You’re welcome to speak with them during your stay, and we offer visiting opportunities in the evenings, with Sundays generally reserved as visiting days. We recognise how important these connections are and will support you in maintaining them throughout your recovery.
