Getting an ADHD diagnosis as an adult can bring up many different feelings, some positive and some negative. You might finally have an explanation for things you've struggled with for years, but you may also be wondering – what now?

Our post-diagnosis ADHD skills programme is here to help answer that question. It's a structured, therapist-led programme designed to help you understand your ADHD, recognise your strengths, and build practical ways of managing daily life. It's delivered entirely online, so you can take part from wherever feels comfortable for you.

Our next group starts 2nd September, delivered virtually from Priory Hospital Barnt Green.

How we can support you

This group isn't just learning facts about ADHD. It's about understanding how ADHD interacts with you, what your particular strengths are, and how to work with your brain rather than against it.

Over the course of the programme, you'll have the chance to:

  • Understand how ADHD affects your emotions, motivation, and daily routines
  • Recognise your own strengths, not just the difficulties
  • Learn practical, therapist-guided strategies for the things you find hardest, whether that's overwhelm, organisation, motivation, or emotional regulation
  • Connect with others who understand what you're going through, without having to explain or justify yourself
  • Leave with tools you can keep using long after the programme ends

How this is different from a support group

It's a structured, clinician-led programme with a defined curriculum, delivered by accredited professionals experienced in adult ADHD.

Alongside the group sessions, you'll also have individual 1:1 sessions built in, so you get both peer connection and personalised support. It's a closed group, meaning everyone starts and finishes together.

  • Typical support group: likely run by peers or a leader to give mutual help and encouragement for a common challenge
  • Priory’s skills and support group: led by an accredited mental health professional to provide clinical treatment and support

What a session looks like

Each group session is built around a particular theme, like recognising your strengths, understanding emotions, or planning daily life.

Within that theme, sessions follow the same rhythm:

  • Hearing from others – you'll have space to share your own experiences and hear from peers, noticing where your experiences overlap and where they differ
  • Learning from an expert – your facilitator will guide the group through practical ways of understanding and managing the traits connected to that week's theme

Nobody is put on the spot, and you're never required to share more than you're comfortable with. The pace is designed to feel manageable, not overwhelming.

Is this programme right for you?

This programme is designed for adults (18+) who have been diagnosed with ADHD.

If you didn’t receive your diagnosis through Priory, we’ll review your diagnosis and talk through the programme in a suitability assessment beforehand to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

If you've had your ADHD assessment with us, our clinicians may recommend this programme to you directly if they feel it would be a good fit. If they feel a different kind of support would suit you better, they'll talk you through the alternatives.

This programme may not be suitable if you're currently experiencing:

  • A severe psychiatric disorder
  • A risk of suicide
  • Significant substance misuse
  • A significant learning disability
  • Significant attentional deficits
  • Frequent overwhelm that makes it difficult to safely manage distress
  • Difficulty tolerating being in a group of up to 8 people

Getting started

You don't have to commit straight away. If you're not sure whether this is right for you, you're welcome to send a general enquiry or give us a call to talk through your options first.

The programme is available on a self-pay basis and costs:

  • £1,250 if you weren't diagnosed with Priory (this includes your suitability assessment)
  • £1,150 if you were diagnosed with Priory

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have been diagnosed with ADHD by Priory to join?

No. You're welcome to join this programme even if your diagnosis came from elsewhere. You'll just need a suitability assessment first, where we'll review your diagnosis and talk through whether the programme is right for you.

Is this programme delivered online?

Yes, the full programme, including both group and 1:1 sessions, is delivered virtually, so you can take part from home.

What happens after my ADHD diagnosis?

Many people find that a diagnosis brings relief, but also new questions about what to do next. This programme is designed specifically for that stage, helping you understand your ADHD and build practical, personalised ways of managing daily life.

Is this the same as a support group?

Not quite. This is a structured, therapist-led programme with a defined curriculum and individual 1:1 sessions built in, rather than an informal or drop-in support group.

How many people are in each group?

A maximum of 8, in a closed group that starts and finishes together.

When does the next group start?

Our next group begins 2nd September, delivered virtually from Priory Hospital Barnt Green.

What if I'm not sure this is the right support for me?

That's completely understandable. You can send an enquiry or call us to talk it through. You don't need to commit to anything on that first conversation.
