Priory Consultant receives prestigious title from King's College London
Dr David Veale, Consultant Psychiatrist at Priory Hospital North London and South London and Maudsley Trust has been awarded a Visiting Professorship in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies in the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London.
In making a visiting appointment, the criteria for a candidate from the King's College London site is:
"In research, candidates should possess an international reputation of outstanding research achievement as shown by a significant record of academic publications and other appropriate indicators of standing and leadership in the profession. In teaching, the candidate should have international recognition of innovative practice in the delivery of high quality education."
It is unusual for a clinician to achieve this through the academic route of clinical excellence and eminence. The Promotions Committee praised the translational implications of Dr Veale's work in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and emetophobia and the degree to which it has influenced practice.
We at Priory Group would like to congratulate David on receiving this honour and for his continued excellence in practice and his field.
