Abigail Bailey

Abigail Bailey

Abigail joined Priory in 2012 as an integrative therapist, working with inpatients and outpatients in both group and individual therapy. This included all areas of mental health, spanning both general psychiatry and eating disorders.

From 2017 onwards, Abigail has specialised predominantly in eating disorders, continuing to treat both inpatients and outpatients. Abigail works with all forms of eating disorder presentations, for both short term and longer term therapy. Abigail also provides psychoeducational group therapy for family members and friends of those being treated for an eating disorder.

  • Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists
  • Specialist interest in compassion focused therapy
  • Contemplation therapy (exploring desire to change disordered eating habits, suitable for all diagnoses)

I am passionate about seeing individuals work towards real and meaningful change in their lives. I offer both short term and longer term relational therapy in order to help individuals work towards living more in line with their values. My focus is on using relational techniques to create a safe and honest space to work in line with the needs of my client, rather than following one specific technique or model. I have worked in various mental health settings for 10 years now and use a variety of counselling techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy to tailor my therapy to suit the individual that I am working with. I believe passionately that a client should feel comfortable and in control of the direction of their therapy at all times, which allows them to grow as an individual and truly benefit from the experience.
