Ann-Marie John
Ann-Marie John has worked in the field of mental health and emotional wellbeing for children, adults and families for over 20 years. She has worked with Priory since 2011, first working in the adolescent unit at Priory Hospital North London, and since 2015 she has been working as a visiting consultant.
Ann-Marie moved into family and relationship therapy from the creative arts therapies, developing skills in working with the communication and relationship aspects of emotional distress.
Ann-Marie works to support families, children and young people through times of change and /or stress, which may result in behavioural symptoms or difficult child-parent relationships. She helps couples who are separating, both to manage the impact of separation and divorce on their children and to prevent parental alienation and involvement in court processes. She also provides a couples service where there is a mental health issue for one or both partners.
Ann-Marie provides training for foster carers’ schools and social workers, focusing on ADHD, self-harm and child mental health issues in general. She also works as a therapist in Local Authority adoption and provides supervision and consultation to social workers and therapists working in social care and the health service respectively. Ann-Marie also consults to schools on matters of child mental health. She has experience of working with looked-after children and foster families at risk of breakdown.
