Anna-Marie Taylor Taylor
Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
Anna Marie Taylor

Anna-Marie Taylor

Anna-Marie has recently joined Priory Wellbeing Centre Canterbury as a CBT Therapist where she works two days a week (alongside her busy private practice and CBT work at an NHS GP Surgery). She is an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Associate Member of the National Counselling Society (NCS). She is also working towards accreditation from the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Training

After achieving an MA from Oxford University and a successful career in health insurance, Anna-Marie decided to pursue her interest in psychological health and re-train in the counselling and psychotherapy profession. She started her training to be a counsellor at the community counsellor training centre in Canterbury where she quickly identified a special interest in and passion for CBT. She went on to specifically train in CBT counselling and psychotherapy models at the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in London, where she successfully completed a Diploma and two further Advanced Diplomas in CBT/REBT, achieving the highest level awarded of Distinction in both Advanced Diplomas.

When Anna-Marie worked in businesses, she held a number of senior roles, responsible for large teams and budgets, across different business functions. She gained a great deal of insight about the challenges of working in pressurised environments and the impacts on psychological health, and she now utilises this experience in her counselling and psychotherapy work.

Patient Feedback

  • “Anna-Marie taught me how to get control of my mind, instead of it controlling me and preventing me from doing the things I used to love doing.”
  • “In 9 weeks Anna helped me change my life. I suffered really badly with anxiety and she helped me with CBT to train my brain to know how to deal with it.”
  • “You made me realise that I am a valuable and worthwhile human being.”
  • “Anna has shown me ways to cope with emotions, anxiety and feelings which I can put into practice as and when they are needed.”
  • “If I did not go to Anna I wouldn’t of been able to feel calm enough to do the Kent Test. I am really grateful to be given the tools to help me.”
  • “In a kind and compassionate way, Anna was able to turn me around from the depths of depression and worthlessness to the more upbeat and happier person I am today”.

Colleague Feedback

  • “Wealth of knowledge about different therapies, methods, procedures for supporting clients with mental health difficulties.”
  • “She is very attentive and shows empathy towards the patients and their carers. She is a very warm and conscientious person.”
  • “Expert knowledge and experience, evidence based, confidence, caring, kind and compassionate, understanding. Goes above and beyond each and every day.”

I am a qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Therapist who is passionate about helping people with their psychological health and wellbeing, and the role that CBT can play in changing people’s lives. My approach is compassionate and gentle, but also active and interventionist, to empower my clients with knowledge, tools and strategies to identify and change destructive mindsets that impact so greatly on their wellbeing and achievement. I am also trained to work with a wide range of issues but I have a special interest in working with adults and adolescents suffering from anxiety disorders and depression.

My training covers integrative counselling and CBT, which gives me a broad range of knowledge, skills and tools. I am trained to work with adults, children and young people. The core CBT model I use is rational emotive behavioural therapy (REBT), and from there I integrate treatment techniques where appropriate and beneficial for the client, from other CBT models including: cognitive therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, solution focused therapy, compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing).
