About

Aviva Melamed is an accredited Humanistic Integrative creative counsellor/psychotherapist with over 8 years’ experience. Aviva looks at each client as an individual. She has worked with clients who present a wide range of concerns, including - Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, shame, sexuality, struggling with boundaries and family relationships, grief, parents whose children have life threatening illness, clients who have been sexually, physically and emotionally abused.

I give the clients the space to explore how they feel. I offer them a space where they can gain their power and control back. I have done CPD training in EFT therapy, using creative methods online, as well as on trauma and shame. Clients coming from domestic abuse carry lots of trauma and shame. I work with my clients to release this toxic shame and give voice to their trauma to start to feel free. I also work with clients to understand what happens to their bodies because of trauma and we explore flight, fright and freeze responses, and what happens to the mind when a trauma occurs thereby helping them understand why they feel and behave the way they do in the here and now.

I offer clients a safe, secure and non-judgmental setting. One of the ways I work is in a creative approach, I use imagery work, pens and papers to help my clients make their feelings more tangible. I am empathetic to the clients needs and wants, to help them on their journey of healing and self-discovery. I also bring in my IHEART training of innate wellbeing and resilience. I work with my clients to find their self-love and self-compassion.

Each client is unique and different and should be given a confidential space to feel their true feelings, fears and anxiety without feeling judged. Sometimes we can feel unheard or blamed and I feel we should have our voice heard and acknowledged. I have excellent listening skills.

I received the Professional Norwood Volunteer of the Year award in 2018,

It takes tremendous courage to be fully honest and open with yourself ,if you are ready to make that change in your life , I am here to walk that journey with you !

As a relational therapist, I offer a professional, warm, empathetic approach to therapy.

I am able to offer a safe and supportive space for the exploration of concerns or issues from the past, present or future. I offer an integrative approach which means that I am able to adapt my approach dependent upon what is brought to the therapy space.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative experience, where you are able to explore solutions to support you in your day-to-day life. I believe that growing a sense of self-compassion and kindness can support the growth of a different relationship with yourself, to build self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence.

I comfortably share my own knowledge and understanding of psychological theories supported by an evidence-based practice. I adhere to the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which supports an open, honest and transparent way of working.
