Carey Allen
DBT Therapist

Carey Allen

Carey Allen has been working as a DBT therapist for Priory since November 2019. She is NMC registered as a mental health nurse.

Training

Carey has a BSc degree in mental health practice. She has completed the intensive training in DBT with British Isles training and she has almost two years post training experience. British Isles training is the sole licensed provider of DBT training in Britain.

I am a registered mental health nurse with previous experience working in forensic inpatient services, substance misuse services and child and adolescent mental health services. During this time, I gained experience working with and using a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) model with patients, and worked within a dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) team, providing one-to-one interventions and skills training groups.

I focus on using excellent interpersonal skills to build strong therapeutic relationships with my patients. This provides a safe and nurturing place for them to work on enhancing self-awareness, whilst building and integrating practical skills into daily life, in order to achieve and manage optimum mental health and wellbeing.
