Caroline Corley

Caroline has worked at Priory for over 16 years and is a senior psychotherapist based in the adult mental health service at the Priory Hospital in Altrincham. She has many years’ experience in treating a wide range of complex mental health problems, including depression, anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, abuse, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) along with emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD).

She is an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist and a certified schema therapist. Caroline is also trained in mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT/MBSR) and compassion focused therapy (CFT). and uses both these approaches within her therapeutic work. She is also trained in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).

Caroline graduated with a degree in Mental Health Nursing from Lancaster University in 2002 and subsequently with a degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Newcastle University in 2008. She is an accredited member of the British Association Of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and a certified member of the Institute of Schema Therapists (ISST).

For many years, Caroline contributed to the development and facilitation of the group therapy programmes here at Priory. This involved facilitating the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) depression groups, CBT for anxiety management groups and the mindfulness group for over 10 years in addition to inducting many other therapists in the running of these groups.

Caroline then moved to our outpatient trauma and schema therapy service where she now provides assessments and ongoing individual psychotherapy for a range of complex problems. Her work now involves a full caseload of patients needing trauma and schema therapy for a wide range of complex disorders.

In addition to the above, Caroline is also a mentor and clinical supervisor for other therapist within the team and is involved in helping other therapists to build their expertise towards best practice and accreditation.

I always take a supportive, warm and compassionate approach to helping individuals with their problems and aim to support all those in my care to achieve the best possible outcomes in their recovery process.

I have many years of experience in delivering sound evidence-based therapy and always adhere to best practice guidelines. I continue to engage in ongoing professional development to enhance my skills and awareness and regularly seek feedback from those I treat. I also provide clinical supervision for other therapists within the team in helping them to build their expertise towards best practice and accreditation.
