About
Denise has over 20 years’ experience working with a wide range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and bereavement (including complex grief). An accredited counselling psychotherapist, Denise primarily works within an integrative person-centred model, also drawing on her training in psychology to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. Having worked in the NHS, private sector, bereavement services and trauma support services, Denise offers a confidential setting to help clients overcome their problems and make appropriate changes to their lives, tailoring her experience and approach to individual circumstances. This may include exploring past events or feelings and emotions underlying depressed mood, which may reveal patterns of thinking or behaviours adversely influencing your mood. Denise also offers solution-focused support for trauma-based problems and is trained to deliver eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy treatment designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.
All work with clients is based upon values of unconditional positive regard, providing a safe space to be heard in a non-judgemental environment.
