About
Hi, I am Dominic – I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered integrative therapist with a working background and particular interest in working with children and young people, with additional focus on neurodivergence (predominantly attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism). My most recent work and studies centre around a humanistic/person-centred approach of facilitating and empowering children and young people to express or grow their awareness in their strengths and meeting their needs. My caseload has been inclusive of individuals as young as 7 years of age and onwards, as well as working with adults.
My working experience has been in both inpatient and outpatient settings (adult private and NHS work as well as child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS)), as I have applied my skills in trauma-informed and contextually dynamic aware approaches within the therapeutic work. My modality (while rooted in person-centred therapy (PCT)) is inclusive of attachment informed interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) therapy and internal family systems (IFS). My work focuses on the importance of safety and the therapeutic relationship while also being developmentally aware in the differentiation and accessibility for children and young people, working with neurodivergence across all ages, or when doing adult inner child work. My skills also include compassion-focused therapy (CFT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), as well as interventions facilitated by art and play (because therapy can be fun too, right?). Playfulness aside, I find the work done within play to be especially important when (while not exclusive to) therapeutically working with children and young people as a facilitator of communication (amongst other rationales) in alignment with Garry Landreth’s quote: “birds fly, fish swim and children play”.
I have worked in support of challenges that adults, children, and young people might face such as anxiety, panic, personality disorders, low mood, emotional dysregulation, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, loss, self-esteem, ADHD, autism and identity. While I put my client’s best interest at the centre of the work I do, I am experienced in collaborating with stakeholders, such as parents or other professionals, as well as multidisciplinary teams that the individuals I work with may have. This is done where appropriate within the realms of maintaining the BACP’s ethical framework, trust and safety.
My working passion is to scaffold and support clients (each individually and perfectly made) to thrive while honouring all the traits that make them wonderfully unique as I truly believe they are entitled.
Position at Priory
I am an integrative therapist working in both CAMHS and adult outpatient services. I have been working for Priory for 2 years while initially starting as a healthcare assistant following my undergraduate studies of psychology. I then did further training and developed my therapeutic skills during my Masters degree, with focus on working with children and young people. I then received my current position as an integrative therapist and BACP-registered practitioner.
