Dr Adel Elagawany is an NHS consultant psychiatrist with over 20 years’ experience in the field, both in the UK and overseas. He is also a visiting consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Chelmsford. Dr Elagawany holds a Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry and is listed on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC).
His academic credentials include an MBBS, a master’s degree in Neurology and Psychiatry (MSc), and the MRCPsych. He also holds two board certifications in Psychiatry, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and has received training in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
He is passionate about collaboratively working with patients to develop individualised, holistic management plans that integrate biological, psychological and social approaches, tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Dr Elagawany completed his higher specialist training in psychiatry in Essex and gained his membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2019. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry, is listed on the Specialist Register of the GMC and has served as a consultant psychiatrist since 2023.
