Dr Annabelle Banks is the medical director at Priory Hospital Woking, Life Works and Priory Wellbeing Centre Oxford. She is a consultant psychiatrist in general adult mental health, and has worked with the Priory Group since her appointment to her current role in November 2018. She is highly committed to quality assurance and innovation for both physical and mental health, and, particularly, wellbeing.
Dr Banks qualified in general medicine and surgery in London at University College and Middlesex Medical School in 1994. She has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2001, and completed specialist training at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in 2006. She holds professional membership with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and Society of Occupational Medicine.
Dr Banks’ previous research has been in the field of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She is currently looking at innovative therapies for treatment, utilising the latest developments in technology.
As a specialist registrar, Dr Banks worked as a research co-ordinator in a sleep clinic in Harley Street, London. This interest in sleep was rekindled, when working with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), within the military.
