Dr Asif Mir is a consultant psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience, and is highly skilled in treating a diverse range of mental health conditions in adults.
His approach to patient care is based on gaining a shared understanding of mental health difficulties and forming collaborative and holistic management plans. He places emphasis on developing strong therapeutic alliances through active listening, empathy and respect. With the knowledge of evidence-based interventions and through continuous professional development (CPD), he aims to provide efficient and compassionate individualised care. His practice involves treating both acute short-term problems and considering more long-term prevention and recovery pathways.
In addition, Dr Mir is passionate about promoting medical education, advocating for patients’ best interests, and contributing to service development, keeping in mind both mental and physical wellbeing. He is involved in teaching through the local academic MRCPsych programme, he supports the recruitment of higher trainees, and he is a clinical assessment of skills and competencies (CASC) examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych). Dr Asif Mir is a visiting consultant psychiatrist at Priory Wellbeing Centre Manchester. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), with a license to practise. He is also a member of the RCPsych.
