About
Dr Catelyn Dorsey is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)-registered counselling psychologist and an integrative practitioner. For those who may be seeking self-understanding, healing from past traumas, breaking generational cycles and building resilience, she is here to help. Catelyn’s research and clinical work has centred around the exploration of identity and the impact of intergenerational trauma and systems.
Catelyn is trained in relational psychodynamic, relational cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and systemic modalities. Some of her specialties and interests are: anxiety and depression, attachment, identity challenges, family systems, racial trauma, childhood trauma and stress. She also leans into unconscious processes and has a particular interest in dreams. Catelyn draws on evidence-based psychological theories to inform her practice, but always tailors her therapy around the client’s individual needs.
Catelyn works with a diverse population of clientele and deeply values this aspect. Therapy is a collaborative process with Catelyn and she hopes to leave clients feeling empowered throughout their work with her. Catelyn aims to create a welcoming space where clients feel comfortable enough to lean into the vulnerability required for deep reflections and personal growth. She values authenticity, compassion and human connection, and she believes that healing happens when we feel free to be honest and vulnerable.
