Dr Chetna Kang
Dr Chetna Kang is a responsible clinician and consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital North London. She also holds a clinic at Priory Wellbeing Centre Harley Street.
Dr Kang qualified as a medical doctor from Imperial College Medical School and went on to specialise in psychiatry with the London Deanery. She has over 17 years’ experience in diagnosing and treating mental health problems, both in the NHS and private sector.
In 2014 and 2015 Dr Kang was runner up for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Public Educator of the year Award. She sits on the Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists SiG for Spirituality in Psychiatry and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Public Engagement Editorial Board.
Dr Kang has received training in a variety of talking therapies including:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
- Transpersonal and psychodynamic therapies
Dr Kang has received certificates in mentoring, appraisal, teaching, coaching and leadership and management
With an additional CCT in Liaison Psychiatry, Dr Kang is also able to treat those experiencing Medically Unexplained Symptoms and mental disorders related to chronic health problems. She also has extensive experience with BME communities and insight into the needs of the South Asian Community which is further facilitated by assessments being carried out in Hindi if required.
Passionate about reducing stigma, for three years Dr Kang presented a weekly mental health radio show with the BBC called Shrink Wrapped and also regularly feature on Radio 4’s Thought for the Day and Beyond Belief.
Committed to optimising mental wellbeing, Dr Kang has authored publications in books, broadsheets, magazines and journals. She also runs health and success management seminars in the corporate sector which integrate eastern and western approaches. Previous clients include Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Ernst & Young and Barclays to name a few.
