About
After 15 years as a writer, in 2018 Elizabeth made the decision to return to university and study to become a psychologist. She began with an MSc in Psychology followed by a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, both at the University of East London.
To date, Elizabeth's work has focused on issues such as intimacy, desire, sexual trauma and relationship difficulties. Post-qualification, she has gained extensive experience working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) arising from childhood trauma, sexual assault and domestic abuse.
Elizabeth has come to adopt an integrative approach to therapy. Inspired by a keen interest in how our earliest relationships shape the way we think, feel and relate as adults, her therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment theory; interwoven with elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She also holds a particular passion for schema therapy (ST), reflecting her desire to help people understand and transform deeply embedded patterns shaped by early relational experiences.
Position at Priory
Elizabeth joined the Cedar Therapy team in March 2026. She works as a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)-registered counselling psychologist, providing both one-to-one and group therapy.
