Dr. Giovanni Giaroli

Dr. Giovanni Giaroli is a Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist but is also trained and qualified in General Adult Psychiatry.

He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer of Psychopharmacology and also a Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner.

Dr. Giaroli works as a visiting consultant for both the inpatient and outpatient units at The Priory Hospital in North London.

As a result of his passion for education and teaching, he regularly lectures to medical students for the Brain & Behaviour and Medicine & Society modules at St Mary University of London. He is the leader of the Module of Psychopharmacology for the Master in Mental Health Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, London.

Recent appoints include Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the North East London Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer for Barts & St Mary Medical School, London.

Alongside English, Dr. Giaroli is able to conduct appointments in Italian.

Graduated (with top honours) in Medical School at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, 2001 (MD).

Specialised (with top honours) in General Adult Psychiatry at the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre of Verona, Italy, 2005.

Specialized in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, 2007.

Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, 2011.

Research Interests

“I strongly believe that innovation and research must be brought into the clinical practice in order to offer the patients the most up-to-date and evidence based service possible”.

Dr. Giaroli is actively involved in research for medication for psychiatric conditions and the genetic aspects of several psychiatric syndromes.

He has published in multiple International Journals on Psychopharmacology (see below) and is a regular chair and presenter at international conferences (United States, Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Turkey and Portugal).
