Dr Humphrey Needham-Bennett is a consultant general and forensic psychiatrist, and was appointed as medical director of Priory Hospital Ticehurst House in May 2018.

Training

Dr Needham-Bennett trained in medicine at Guy’s Hospital, London, and specialised in psychiatry at Guys, St Thomas’ and the Maudsley Hospitals.

He was an NHS consultant for 16 years at the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospital and has worked in senior national management roles in the independent sector.

Specialist areas

Dr Needham-Bennett is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric disorders from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia to addictions, anxiety and depressive disorders.

He specialises in treating complex cases where substance use or dependency complicates a mental illness; risk analysis and medico-legal work.

Dr Needham-Bennett is able to provide second opinions. He undertakes medico-legal work (civil and criminal) and is able to prepare reports in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychiatric disorders complicating physical injury.
