About
Dr Deverill is an experienced consultant psychiatrist with extensive NHS and private hospital experience, covering all areas of psychiatry. She has a special clinical interest in women’s mental health (including menopause and pregnancy), anxiety, depression, memory and attention problems, stress, and trauma. She is passionate about lifestyle and nutritional psychiatry. Her motto is that health is not merely the absence of illness but a state of wellbeing and contentment. Alongside conventional approaches, she incorporates lifestyle psychiatry into her practice, focusing on sleep, nutrition, and physical activity to support mental wellbeing.
Position at Priory
Joining Priory Hospital Roehampton as a visiting consultant in 2025, Dr Deverill provides outpatient, day-patient, and inpatient care, as well as remote outpatient appointments. A Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2003, she also serves as a medical member and expert for the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health) within the Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Appointments Commission. She is a Member of the Medical Protection Society, is fully registered with the General Medical Council (registration number: 5202738), and works with all major insurance providers, including Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Cigna, Helix, Vitality, and WPA.
Training
Beginning her psychiatry training in 2000 at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, Dr Deverill completed dual training in general adult and old age psychiatry across London. She has practised as a consultant psychiatrist for nearly 20 years and has expertise across all areas of psychiatry.
Her most recent NHS role was in a general hospital in West London, where she treated patients with a wide range of mental health problems. She was instrumental in establishing this service, which was recognised with an Excellence award by the Royal College of Psychiatrists within three years. In addition, she contributed to the Integrated Care NHS projects in Northwest London, which went on to receive national recognition.
Research interests
Dr Deverill’s research interests focus on memory impairment, and she has extensive expertise in assessing and treating patients with memory problems and dementia. She has also presented the findings of several quality improvement projects at both national and international conferences.
