Dr Maria J. Gutierrez Ros

Dr Gutierrez joined Priory in 2003 as a highly Specialist Psychologist. She worked at Priory Hospital Ticehurst House in the therapy service department until 2005. She returned in 2017 and is now working full time in the private sector. 

She is a highly experienced and senior clinician with expertise on the psychological treatment of most mental health conditions. She has developed a short-term therapy programme, consisting of eight sessions, for patients with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. She also provides comprehensive psychological assessments of adults and expert medico legal reports for cognitive/intellectual functioning, memory functioning and executive functioning, using objective psychometric and neuro-psychological assessments through a semi-structured clinical interview.

Training

Dr Gutierrez has been responsible for the delivery of highly specialist psychological assessments and effective evidence-based formulation driven psychological interventions to adults 16 years and over, with a wide range of severe and complex presentations. Her main training has been on the following therapeutic approaches:

Since qualifying in 1990 I have worked in a range of diverse settings in the NHS for 18 years, both in inpatient and community services. For 11 years, I held the position of Head of Adult Community Psychology Service in the NHS and I have been responsible for the delivery of highly specialist psychological assessments and effective evidence-based interventions to working age adults.

Alongside this, I have worked in the private sector for over 15 years. Throughout my career in clinical psychology, I have remained invested in my own professional development, and ensured that I continue offering psychological therapy, which is innovative, forward thinking and effective.
