Dr Paul Young

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

About

Dr Paul Young is a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist (CBT therapist) who specialises in helping people who are experiencing problems with anxiety (e.g. generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder) and depression, as well as related issues with confidence, self-criticism, perfectionism and low self-esteem.

Paul is an accredited registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.). He is also a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (CPsychol).

Position at Priory

Paul provides individual as well as group therapy, for adults at Priory Hospital Roehampton’s therapy centre. He draws on and integrates several modalities of CBT depending on the unique needs of his clients. He has received extensive training in rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive therapy (CT), compassion-focused-therapy (CFT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness.

Paul’s style is warm, collaborative and friendly, recognising that seeking support and guidance for mental health can feel a bit overwhelming for some, particularly at first. He ensures that a client’s goals are at the centre of the process and works at a pace that suits his clients’ unique needs.

Prior to retraining in psychology and mental health, Paul spent 10 years working in corporate environments, including four years in London and New York with the global financial services company BlackRock. Because of his personal, clinical and research experience, Paul often works with people who are balancing busy professional and personal lives.
