I provide excellent quality of care for my patients, with my years of knowledge and experience of working in psychiatry of adults of working age group. I moved on from my continuous NHS employment at various grades in psychiatry since 2001, to the inpatient team at Priory Hospital Bristol in January 2023. I run private outpatient clinics since September 2020, and now at Priory Hospital Bristol.
I am in good professional standing for annual continuous professional development (CPD) with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), since 2005.
I am up to date with the annual NHS appraisal and General Medical Council (GMC) revalidation, due every 5 years.
I am section 12(2) approved and an approved clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983 (renewal every 5 years).
I was an (whilst in NHS post) educational and clinical supervisor for core and advanced trainees, and clinical supervisor for foundation doctors/GP trainees in psychiatry.
I was the locality medical lead for BaNES locality- AWP NHS Trust from April 2018 to February 2022.
I am a Care Quality Commission (CQC)-appointed second opinion appointed doctor (SOAD) to review the treatment under the Mental Health Act 1983, since July 2023, which I undertake in NHS hospitals.
I undertake medicolegal work.
Position at Priory
I am a visiting consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Bristol, providing assessment and management of mental disorders in adults of working age.
I work 4 days a week as the consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Bristol, based on one of the adult inpatient wards since Jan 2023.
Training
I obtained my medical degree (MBBS) in 1997 in India, and moved to England in 1999. I worked in the NHS from August 2000 until January 2023. I completed my postgraduate psychiatric training (MRCPsych) in 2006 and LLM (Master of Laws in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice) in May 2011. From 2005 until November 2013, I worked as a specialty doctor, associate specialist and locum consultant psychiatrist in the NHS in community mental health teams, early intervention team in psychosis and home treatment and crisis team, and inpatient psychiatrist for 6 years for the adult psychiatric inpatient unit in Bath.
Research interests
I have undertaken audits as part of my training and participated in national audits (RCPsych).
