Dr Prabhakaran Naveen

Dr Prabhakaran Naveen started his position as visiting consultant at Priory Wellbeing Centre Bristol in September 2020, providing assessment and management of mental disorders in Adults of Working Age group.

Training

  • Dr Naveen obtained his medical degree (MBBS) in 1997 at Calicut University, (Kerala, India). In 1999 he moved to England; he worked as a House officer in Medicine for 6 months in 2000. From August 2000 until Feb 2001, he did locum posts as a senior house officer in Psychiatry
  • Dr Naveen joined the Psychiatric training scheme in Severn Deanery and Avon and Wiltshire Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust in April 2001. He left the post graduate psychiatric training scheme in Feb 2005. He obtained his MRCPsych (Membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London) in Jan 2006
  • Dr Naveen took the post of a Specialty doctor in adult psychiatry from Feb 2005 until April 2009, when the post was re-graded to Associate Specialist in adult psychiatry. He was in this post until Nov 2013 and during that time he acted up to a locum consultant post in adult Psychiatry for 10 months in 2011/2012
  • During the period from 2005 until 2013 within the locality of BaNES, Dr Naveen worked in community mental health teams, early intervention team in Psychosis and Home treatment & crisis teams
  • In Nov 2013, Dr Naveen was appointed as the locum consultant psychiatrist for the Adult psychiatric inpatient unit in Bath and he took on the substantive post in Jan 2016; when he obtained entry to the Specialist Register for the GMC for General Adult Psychiatry
  • Since Nov 2019, Dr Naveen has worked in Primary Care Liaison Service in Bath, which is the service that deals with referrals to mental health service

Research interests

  • Dr Naveen has undertaken audits as part of his training, and also participated in nationally required audits (Royal College of Psychiatrists) when necessary

I aim to provide excellent quality of care for all my patients whom I review. I bring my years of experience of working in Adult psychiatry and evidence based knowledge to provide such care. I am receptive to feedback from patients and their families, which I believe helps to improve my practice and support for patients and families.
