Dr Richard Polson
Richard has a broad range of experience as a consultant in assessing and treating people with severe and enduring mental illnesses, substance misuse disorders, depression, anxiety and personality related difficulties.
He also held the post of lead consultant for the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire substance misuse services for 10 years.
Richard likes to collaborate with people who are referred to him and determine the most suitable treatment approach for them, whether it be though medication, psychotherapy or other approaches.
Dr Richard Polson trained as an undergraduate at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical school and in Psychiatry at The Royal Free Hospital and the Wessex Senior Training scheme, before taking up an NHS post as Consultant Psychiatrist in Fareham where he worked for 21 years.
