Seema has worked at Priory for 10 years, starting out as a healthcare assistant on the wards. After studying, she moved on to be a trainee psychologist and once qualified, she changed roles to a counselling psychologist. She currently works for Priory Wellbeing Centre Harley Street, where she sees clients on a weekly basis.

Research interests

Seema has conducted research as part of her thesis on body appreciation and body image, as well as on ethnic identity amongst black females within the UK. This was the first study of its kind in the UK to be conducted, and it will be published by the end of the year.

Qualifications

  • BSC in Criminology and psychology – 3 years undergraduate combined honours degree in psychology and criminology
  • Doctorate in Counselling Psychology – 4 years doctorate in counselling psychology.
  • Masters Psychology – post graduate 1 year course in Psychology

I am an HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist and I also trained as a cognitive behaviour and dialectical behavioural therapist (CBT and DBT). I have been working in mental health for 10 years within both NHS and private health care sectors.

I work in line with my values of openness, integrity, non-judgemental stance and positive regard. I have an interest in equality and diversity, which is considered in the work I do and reflected in my academic research. My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualised, psychological care.

I treat a number of mental health disorders and I provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples. My previous experience is in depression anxiety, equality, diversity and cultural considerations, LGBT+ relationships, body image and self-esteem.
