Dr Sheethal Rajashanker

Consultant Psychiatrist

About

As a consultant psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience, I specialise in delivering expert, compassionate care for both women’s and men’s mental health across all stages of life. I have extensive clinical experience in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, trauma related conditions, psychosis, perinatal mental health difficulties, PMDD, and mental health challenges associated with menopause and andropause. My practice places strong emphasis on understanding the distinct biological, hormonal, and social factors that shape mental wellbeing for both women and men.

Throughout my career, I have supported individuals from all backgrounds in navigating the complexities of mental illness and achieving long term emotional and psychological wellbeing. I take a holistic, person centred approach to treatment, recognising that each person’s journey is unique. By building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect, I create a safe and non judgemental space where people feel empowered to share their experiences and work toward meaningful recovery.

My clinical practice is informed by evidence based interventions and the latest advancements in psychiatric research, ensuring that my patients receive the most effective and up to date treatment options. For women, this includes specialised support for perinatal mental health, postnatal depression, hormonal mood changes, PMDD, and menopause related mental health difficulties. For men, I offer tailored care for issues such as andropause related mood disorders, male specific presentations of anxiety and depression, stress, trauma, and the impact of societal expectations on mental wellbeing.

Whether I am supporting someone through acute mental health challenges or helping them manage long term conditions, my goal is to provide comprehensive, sensitive, and empowering care that promotes resilience, confidence, and overall wellbeing.

In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about education, advocacy, and reducing stigma surrounding both women’s and men’s mental health. I am actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, and community outreach to improve mental health literacy and encourage open, informed conversations. I am deeply committed to breaking down barriers to accessing mental healthcare and fostering a culture where individuals feel supported and understood.

I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people struggling with mental illness and to contributing to the advancement of psychiatric practice. My commitment is to deliver high quality, personalised mental health care that supports healing, growth, and lasting wellbeing for both women and men.
