Dr Sofia Manolesou
Dr Sofia Manolesou is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the inpatient adolescent unit at The Priory Hospital North London.
Dr Manolesou was formerly a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Central and North West London NHS Trust where she worked within the Brent Adolescent CAMHS team and the Brent Early Intervention in Psychosis team.
She had previously worked for two National and Specialist NHS Services for adolescents, the National and Specialist Child and Adolescent Service for Eating Disorders and the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Service at the Michael Rutter Centre, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
Dr Manolesou is fluent in Greek, English and French.
Dr Manolesou qualified at the Medical School, University of Patras, Greece in 2001. She undertook her postgraduate training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at The University Hospital of Athens.
Alongside her postgraduate specialist training, she has also completed a five year qualification training in Family and Couple Systemic Psychotherapy and a two year postgraduate training in the treatment and management of eating disorders.
Dr Manolesou has also specialised in assessing and treating adolescents. Her specialist interests include early onset psychosis, eating disorders, self-harm and depression and transition to adulthood.
She has a broad range of experience in teaching and training in a variety of settings. She was previously an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with Imperial College Medical School and is an experienced supervisor for trainee doctors and other clinicians.
Dr Manolesou is currently undertaking a part time Masters Course in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
She has been involved in services development and management in the UK and in Greece, including holding the role of the CAMHS Lead Clinician for CNWL, setting up mental health services for children and adolescents in Greece and working in international voluntary organisations.
