About
Dr Vyasa Immadisetty is a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist with over 22 years of psychiatric practice and more than 13 years of experience as a consultant psychiatrist within the NHS. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych), an approved clinician under the Mental Health Act, and is listed on the general medical council specialist register with dual accreditation in general adult psychiatry and substance misuse psychiatry.
Dr Immadisetty currently serves as clinical director for adult mental health services and consultant psychiatrist for Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT). He provides strategic clinical leadership across community and inpatient mental health services and leads the clinical aspects of county-wide addiction services, delivering care to individuals with complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
Alongside his NHS leadership role, Dr Immadisetty works as a visiting consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Chelmsford and serves as a health examiner and medical supervisor for the general medical council, supporting doctors experiencing mental health difficulties and health-related fitness-to-practise concerns.
Throughout his career, he has worked across community, outpatient, liaison, inpatient, rehabilitation and specialist addiction services, gaining extensive experience in the management of depressive illnesses, affective disorders, neurotic conditions, psychotic disorders and complex dual-diagnosis presentations.
His practice is characterised by a compassionate, collaborative and evidence-based approach that integrates biological, psychological and social perspectives to deliver personalised treatment for each individual.
Dr Immadisetty has particular expertise in managing highly complex patients where depression, anxiety, trauma, personality difficulties and addiction co-exist. His clinical approach emphasises comprehensive assessment, shared decision-making and recovery-focused care.
Leadership and management
Dr Immadisetty has held a number of senior clinical leadership positions throughout his career.
As clinical director for adult mental health services in North Essex, he provides medical leadership across multiple community and inpatient services. His responsibilities include medical workforce leadership, clinical governance, quality improvement, service transformation, policy development and strategic planning.
He previously served as clinical lead for addiction psychiatry in Essex and clinical lead for the Suffolk Recovery Network, where he successfully delivered service redesign programmes, introduced innovative treatment pathways and led significant improvements in quality, safety and patient outcomes.
He currently serves as the eastern division representative for addiction psychiatry within the Royal College of Psychiatrists, contributing to workforce planning, service development and professional standards across the region.
Position at Priory
Dr Immadisetty has been a visiting consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Chelmsford since 2019 and has been re-registered more recently.
He provides specialist outpatient psychiatric assessments and treatment for adults presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions and addictions. His work combines evidence-based pharmacological treatments with psychologically informed care tailored to the individual's needs and circumstances.
