Psychotherapist and Councellor via Priory Connect
Erika Gati-Howe

Erika Gati-Howe

Erika Gati-Howe is an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor who is passionate about working with people struggling with mental health.

Erika started her career abroad, working as an interpreter and translator for 10 years, with large international corporations, as well as local businesses and communities. She then relocated to the UK and spent the next 10 years in London working for a large financial services company in corporate HR roles (including Diversity, Inclusion and Administration). During this time, Erika also began retraining as a psychotherapist.

In 2016, Erika moved to Cheshire where she works as a psychotherapist within an Occupational Health business. She works across the NHS and Priory, as well as in private practice.

Position at Priory

Erika is part of the Priory Connect service, offering counselling and psychotherapy to adult clients suffering with mental health issues.

Training

Erika trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor in London. She uses a number of psychological theories and approaches, including psychodynamic, attachment, interpersonal, relational, body-mind and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) tools, which she personalises to the individual needs of each client.

She has over seven years of clinical practice in a number of mental health services including a bereavement service, a women’s centre for domestic violence and sexual abuse, a community counselling service and a pregnancy crisis centre. She works with issues such as depression, anxiety, loss, identity, sexual abuse, domestic violence, trauma, stress, difficult life events and changes, to name a few.

Erika is keen to continue her professional development and an area of particular interest is trauma and early traumatic experiences. She is interested in how they affect other areas of a person’s life, such as eating and the relationship to food and one’s body.
