Heather Pender
Integrative Therapist
Heather Pender

Heather Pender

I have over 15 years’ experience working with complex emotions and addictions in a variety of ways, from talking therapies, to embodiment and exploring how our life experiences show up in the body. I bring a passion for exploration of how our past life experiences are connected to, and influence, each present moment (psychodynamic), weaving in mindfulness and behavioural changes to free us from old patterns.

I work relationally, with empathy, curiosity and gentle challenge, in order to move towards greater self-understanding, which can help unravel some of the unhelpful behaviours and life situations we may find ourselves in, and begin to truly ‘self-care’.

I am diversity-inclusive, and I recognise the impact of discrimination on our lives; I enjoy working with equality and empowerment.

Position at Priory

Heather has been working at Priory as an Integrative Therapist since December 2021.

Heather began counselling training in London at Metanoia whilst working in addiction treatment centres. She later continued training at BCPC in Bath, where she qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Integrative Counsellor. She is also a member of BACP.

Heather has additional training in working with embodiment, movement, dance in therapy, yoga, mindfulness and relaxation.

Heather is a competent user of British Sign Language.
