Holly Nicholls

Psychotherapist

About

Holly is an experienced psychotherapist working with both adults and children/adolescents at Priory Hospital Roehampton. Having qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and music therapy, Holly works holistically to tailor her therapeutic approach to the needs of each individual client. 

Holly has a wide variety of experience working with different mental health conditions, specialising particularly in trauma. These skills have been honed extensively in the NHS and public sector, where she has held a number of roles including lead therapist and supervisor for trainee therapists. Her approach integrates CBT and psychodynamic concepts within a trauma-informed and neurodivergent friendly framework.

Position at Priory

Holly has recently joined Priory as a CBT therapist, EMDR and music therapist, working predominantly in the outpatients and day care team. 

Holly is an accredited member of both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She is also registered with the British Association of Music Therapists (BAMT) and EMDR UK.

Training

  • Full training in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) with EMDR UK association

  • CPD in complex trauma, neurodiversity and supervision 
  • Safeguarding adults and children, advanced level 4 with BAMT

Research interests

  • Researching the experiences of music therapists working cross-culturally with trauma in conflict zones (masters dissertation) and the efficacy of different therapeutic approaches. 
  • Exploring the use of music as healing in traditional and spiritual practices.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy, through the NHS with Royal Holloway University

  • MA music therapy with Roehampton University 

  • Postgraduate certificate in systemic approaches to working with individuals, families and organisations with the Tavistock NHS Trust
