Julie Howe
I offer a calm and compassionate space for you to explore and process your thoughts and feelings. We all face times in our lives that are difficult such as a bereavement, relationship break up, job loss, traumatic event or feeling overwhelmed by the stresses of everyday life. It’s OK not to feel OK, but you don’t have to struggle alone.
I provide counselling to adults, including young people from 18 years.
Counselling allows you time to reflect on issues and find a way forward. My role is to support you through the process without judgement or telling you what to do. Some people have specific goals that they want to achieve from their counselling sessions. Others arrive scared, confused, and with no idea of what they want or what to do next. That’s fine; I treat each person individually and at a pace that suits you.
Whilst my training allows me to draw upon theories and approaches from being a therapist, I also use my own life experience to understand and help clients. I can also provide you with tools to help you once you leave the therapy room, such as mindfulness exercises to practise and incorporate into everyday life. I can also explore spiritual growth.
Position at Priory
I recently joined Priory Wellbeing Centre Canterbury as an integrative/EMDR therapist.
Training
I trained at University of Sunderland and completed degree level counselling, person-centred therapy/solution focused therapy, and children and adolescent training certificate.
I have also completed level 1-4 EMDR at EMDR Works in March 2021, and have an interest in complex trauma.
