Louise Wills
Psychological Therapist

Louise Wills

Louise Wills is a Sessional Psychological Therapist that delivers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for depression and any anxiety disorder. Louise is registered with the BABCP (British association of behaviour and cognitive psychotherapies).

Alongside her responsibilities at Priory, Louise works weekly with adults aged 16 years and older that are experiencing anxiety problems or depression.

Louise Wills qualified as a psychological therapist within an IAPT service in 2016, specialising in CBT and prior to this she worked for three years using CBT techniques as a psychological wellbeing practitioner (PWP). She has worked her CBT career within an IAPT setting which means her training standards have always been to a high quality and her experience of working with different mental health problems is vast. Louise has worked with people that have suffered from depression, social anxiety, specific phobias, generalised anxiety, post-traumatic stress and OCD in both a one-to-one and group setting.

Louise has also attended training in compassion focused therapy (CFT) for trauma and she has experience in running CBT trans-diagnostic therapy groups. Trans-diagnostic means that the groups consist of people with both depression problems and anxiety problems. It is focused on the skills being transferable and not diagnosis dependent. Louise also regularly works using CBT online and she attends regular continuing professional development (CPD) in all areas.

I aim to provide a professional and quality service to each individual that I have the pleasure of working with. I have a vast range of experience of working with people that struggle with their mental wellbeing. I ensure that my quality of work is always maintained through regular training, supervision and most importantly through the use of a collaborative approach that puts the individual at the heart of their therapy experience.

My approach to therapy is professional, sincere and hard-working. Through the use of guided discussions, coping strategies and tools I strive to help every individual make change no matter how big or small. I believe that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT( is helpful for everyone and that mental health is not a separate entity but something that we all experience – just for some, the degree of severity is a little higher. CBT is about learning to cope and I try to ensure that I also practice what I preach.
