Mandy Bruce
Psychotherapist, Integrative Arts Psychotherapist

Mandy Bruce

Mandy joined Priory Hospital Ticehurst House as a sessional therapist at the beginning of 2019. She offers psychotherapy (with or without the use of art materials) to individuals and groups, within day care and inpatient settings.

She is accredited with the HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council) and is a registered member of BAAT (British Association of Arts Therapists).

Training

Mandy trained in an integrative model of arts psychotherapy, which combines psychodynamic, relational and humanistic elements, underpinned by neuroscience. Where appropriate, she works with creative process, exploring sensory expressions derived through art making.

She has a Master’s Degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (Distinction) from the Institute of Art in Therapy and Education (University of East London).

Qualifications
  • BA (Hons) Theology, with Philosophy and Russian Literature, University of Nottingham
  • HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council) accredited and BAAT (British Association of Arts Therapists) registered.
  • MA Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, The Institute of Art in Therapy and Education, University of East London
  • MA Myth, Literature and the Unconscious, University of Essex
  • PG Certificate Therapeutic Arts and Counselling skills, The Institute of Art in Therapy and Education, University of East London
  • PG Dip Journalism, University of Cardiff

Using a coherent blend of integrative techniques, I guide individuals on a process of self-discovery, in order to gain insight into their painful emotions, behavioural patterns and psychological difficulties. With understanding - autonomy and new choices arise.

I also work with creative processes of expression using art materials. When words seem inadequate, psychotherapeutic use of art materials, or a Jungian sand-tray, can act as guides to growth and healing. No art ‘skills’ are necessary to work in this way.
